1. Fatigue Management in the Mining Industry 

Overview 

Fatigue is a significant contributor to workplace incidents, accidents and deaths in mining workplace accidents all over Australia.

Fatigue Management in the Mining Industry course is specifically designed to teach participants how to identify fatigue hazards and provides strategies for managing these. This course is specifically designed to address and manage the unique issues present in the mining industry such as fly-in fly-out and shift work.

Participants also learn how to recognise the symptoms of fatigue and act upon them to minimise the likelihood of an incident.

  • What is fatigue, why must it be managed?
  • The circadian rhythm
  • Causes of fatigue and lifestyle factors
  • Signs of fatigue and ways of managing it
  • Legislation and fatigue management plans.

Overview

Fatigue Management Awareness in the Workplace course will teach you how to identify fatigue hazards and provides strategies for managing these. We also learn how to recognise the symptoms of fatigue and act upon them to minimise the likelihood of an incident.

Who should attend

Anyone who could be at risk of an injury or accident if:

  • Fatigue isn’t managed at their workplace and/or
  • They don’t know how to recognise the signs of fatigue and take appropriate actions to manage this.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand and identify workplace fatigue hazards
  • Identify areas in the workplace which could cause fatigue
  • Recognise how workplace fatigue can be managed
  • Identify fatigue personal warning signs and take action to prevent fatigue causing an accident.
