Santos Enter Confined Space

This course covers the entry to confined spaces, for maintenance, servicing of vessels or other necessary reasons for all Santos work environments. Work in/entry to confined spaces shall conform to the Santos Health and Safety Hazard Standard HSHS18 and relevant legislation.

Prior to course commencement, all participants are required to have completed

MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit and

MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres


Pre-entry Requirements:
Language and literacy requirements from the unit are:

  • Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments
  • Reading is required to enable the determination of information through the student manual
Participants are required to have the physical abilities to successfully complete the practical applications of the course.

This course covers the training requirements for employees wishing to work on a Santos site around confined spaces. The students will gain the skills and knowledge to enter confined space, for maintenance purposes, for cleaning, inspection or other reasons. The course provides students with Santos specific requirements of the Enter Confined Space package.


Prior to course commencement, all students are required to have completed the following units, which can be achieved by completing the Santos Permit to Work Revision 7.4 and Gas Detection and Monitoring Module 49.

  • MSMPER200 Work in Accordance with an Issued Permit (Rev 7.4) and
  • MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres (Module 49)

Assessment will be conducted through actual demonstration of competency and written and oral testing of underpinning knowledge. Assessment for this unit of competency will be by simulation of work place practices.

Delivery Method:
Training will be delivered utilising theory and practical activities. Delivery will include trainer led presentations / scenarios.
